CULTIVATING AN ACTIVE STATE OF MINDFULNESS; AWARENESS THROUGH MEDITATIVE CONCENTRATION

What’s it all about?
Meditation is a method of mind training, often referred to as “Mind Cultivation”. The problem is the relentless pursuit of our thinking mind, always in the future or reminiscing in the past. Rarely is it able to be present in the moment. I like to refer to this overactive thinking mind as our monkey mind.
How can we calm the mind?
How can we quiet the mind?

Through the practices of sitting in silence we gently train our mind to be more present achieving a state physical stillness. Within this stillness we form the practice of “concentration” and by bringing our focus to a single point we attain a state of mental calmness. This practice of centering and being present in the moment gives rise to “awareness” enabling us to observe the coming and going of thoughts, feelings and emotions, without attachment, by simply letting go.

Mindfulness Through Breath Meditation

Develop Concentration: An Experience Of Inner Gladness & Joy

Mindfulness through Breath is a simple, yet profound practice. When you sit, turn your mind inwardly and observe the coming and going of your breath, with a gentle smile, you will begin to let go of thinking, without effort, naturally.

Within the simplicity of this meditation, a beautiful experience of Inner Gladness blossoms. Many people who were convinced that meditation wasn’t for them or who thought that they were unable to meditate marveled at the experience of serenity, equanimity and inner joy.

Inner Smile Meditation

Develop Concentration: With a Gentle Smile…

The Taoists understood that harmony within the internal organs is the real basis of our life. The organs store and emit particular life sustaining energies housing both positive and negative energetic qualities. When the system is inundated with stress, the vital life chi energy within the organs become jammed, overheated and overtaken by negativity.

Negative emotions such as anger, sadness, depression, fear, grief, sorrow and worry are seen as low-grade energy that causes chronic disease and steals our life force by creating energy blockages.

The Inner Smile Meditation flushes the internal organs of negative emotional energy, liberates any trapped heat within the cooling sacs that surround the vital organs and in turn reveals the virtuous, positive energy of the organs. Smile to your organs and they will smile back creating a deep sense of ease and wellbeing.

Zazen Meditation

Develop Concentration: Single Pointedness, Immovable Mind…

Zen lies at the confluence of Chinese Buddhism and traditional Taoism. The method of Zen Meditation is often referred to as Zazen or “single pointedness.” It literally means “sitting immovable like a bold mountain.

The straight forwardness of Zazen is to sit in the correct posture, bring your Mind to a point and simply observe.

Without thinking about your thinking, simply observe the coming and going of thinking, like clouds passing in the sky. Zazen develops “concentration” through single pointedness and cultivates “awareness” leading to clear thinking, clear speaking and clear action.

Small Heavenly Cycle Meditation

Develop Concentration: Warm Current Circulation…

The Microcosmic Orbit is the Taoist method of Inner Alchemy to cleanse and purify the body; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Viewed in the context of a variety of Taoist exercises and techniques, the Small Heavenly Cycle is basically aimed at healing disease and keeping fit. It is a practice designed to condense, conserve and increase, recycle, refine and transform vital energy into vitality.

Through the practice of Qigong deep abdominal breathing is applied to support the Mind, as it opens, connect and directs the Chi through the two major energy channels of Ren Mai and Du Mai up the spine and down the front of the body. As your practice continues the feeling is that of a warm flow or current of life force circulating throughout  the body.

The Microcosmic Orbit restores and improves free-flow circulation of life force throughout the nervous system, circulatory system, organs and the entire body. It redistributes the surplus Chi, by directing it to the areas of deficiency that are in need of healing.

Great Heavenly Cycle Meditation

Develop Concentration: Commune with the Universal

The Great Heavenly Cycle is a high level Neigong practice of meditation, which means “true cultivation”. The spiraling nature of Universal Energy is attracted by the Mind into the Crystal Palace in center region of the head. It descending the central channel to the Lower Dantian behind the navel. The spiraling energy completes an inner circle by returning to the Crystal Palace establishing an interior circuit. It activates, balances and harmonizes the Seven Chakras and Eight Psychic Channels.

Universal Energy is attracted and absorbed through the palms of the hands and soles of the feet opening the terminals of the fingers and toes activating the circulation of the Twelve Organ Channels though the body.

Through dedication and practice the Great Heavenly Cycle Meditation will establish a powerful central energy circuit opening all of the energy channels of the body.
